| On April 27th 1981 I got my drivers license. At the time my mom drove a 1976 VW Scirocco and my Dad drove a 1979 Cadillac Seville. My mom bought an Audi 5000 and the VW was mine! My girlfriend had a 1971 Fiat Spider 850 and her mom had a new 1981 Fiat, Pinninfarina Spider. I was hooked. Her mechanic, Bruno had a 1969 1750 spider for sale. I sold my Scirocco and the Spider was mine! As it turned out the spider was really about 4 spiders made into one. Thanks Bruno! Live and Learn. My new Mechanic, Joe Cannone of GTA sports cars was keeping an eye out for me after my 69 spider was totaled on Topanga Cyn Blvd. when a 15 year old un-licensed girl smashed into me. Finally Joe called me with a 1974 spider with only 55,000 original miles for only $2,700! I quickly had it painted back to it's original dark green color and have owned it since 1986. I love this car and it hauls ass. The body, paint, interior, top and many other parts were replaced or restored in 2002. |
